The son of a real estate agent, Robert Paridis’ career path seemed to be a forgone conclusion. “My father opened his first office in 1956, and before Gough Whitlam became prime minister [in 1972] he had six real estate offices,” Robert recalls. “It was just in my blood. I used to go to open inspections with my dad and it was just a natural progression for me to get into real estate.”
A principal of his own real estate offices for 32 years, Robert says he learnt his trade by “following him [dad], listening, reading the paper, and watching people”. “I did my real estate course in 1986 and from that day onwards I was a real estate agent.”
What sets Robert apart from many modern-day realtors is his hands-on approach and his accessibility. “I’ve built up a reputation where people pick up the phone and call Robert Paridis. I have a rapport with my clients that is second to none. If they need anything, they pick up the phone and ask the question; if they need anything done, I do it straight away,” he states, earning a reputation as the ‘go-to guy’. “I know a lot of people. People ring me for advice, and they get the right advice – and they appreciate that. I’ve been a principal of a real estate office for 32 years. When people want Robert Paridis, they get Robert Paridis. They don’t get my assistant, they get me personally.”
An Easterns Suburbs boy, Robert has seen the area evolve over the years. “Bondi Junction is the typical Eastern Suburbs locale that has had a major, major change. First of all, Westfields came in, taking all the business from Oxford Street and Paddington and bringing it into the Junction. Secondly, there are massive loads of development happening in Bondi Junction.”
