An all-day eatery, The 5th Earl Rosebery serves breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday, and dinner Friday and Saturday nights. And good food and a perfectly situated corner locale have made it the focal point of the Rosebery community.
“We love the community! That’s why we’re in hospitality, and our retail background lends to that,” says Frank Gangemi, who alongside wife Mary, is the driving force behind 5th Earl. “My dream was to go into hospitality; I’d had enough of retail, I could see it was going nowhere,” he explains. “It’s a good industry to be in. I grew up in hospitality, and Mary’s family were in the fresh produce side of things.”
“I’ve put on the menu what I would dish up for my family and friends,” says Mary. “For example, the Holy Grail. It’s a new one we’ve put on the menu but my kids were brought up with that. It’s got the chilli jam, the scotch fillet — it’s very nice! It’s a steak sandwich that covers everyone’s taste buds.” Franks adds: “A steak sandwich is the next level up from a burger. A premium meal and the taste is phenomenal!”
“Every dish that comes out of my kitchen has love — the key ingredient! That’s why you come to 5th Earl, for breakfast, lunch and dinner,” Mary proudly states. The menu boasts omelettes, pancakes, pastas, salads, tacos and souvlaki, to name but a few dishes. You can check out the menu on their Insta account.
But it’s not just food; there’s coffee, milkshakes and smoothies too. And as a licensed venue, The 5th Earl has something stronger to quench your thirst or pair with your meal. “A cab sav or pinot would be good to have with a steak. If you’re having rich food, then a Shiraz is fine,” Frank suggests. And in the way of beer, they have a Peroni Red, Stone & Wood, and Coopers Pale Ale. “I think it’s a good line-up.”
And the plethora of patrons, local and visitor alike, would undoubtedly agree.
