Kaylene, Chiltern Bakery Cafe, Chiltern

“I find it rewarding coming to work; when people say it’s a nice coffee. And helping our elderly customers. There’s a lot of elderly here in Chiltern. There’s a lot of knowledge here and a lot of history. I know the customers by name and it’s a very tight-knit town. It’s a very arty town and there’s some very talented people here. It helps having good people to work with, and having really good bosses; Daniel and Lisa are beautiful people. I used to be here a long time ago but then I left; I came back and they were looking for a barista. I like a skim cappuccino with no sugar because I think the milk sweetens it, if you make the milk right. I prefer to make it creamy rather than with a lot of froth. The most popular thing here is the bee sting; a sweet-savoury bun filled with custard cream and with sliced almonds and icing sugar on top.”
