“There’s a lot to like about carpentry. It’s the most sought after trade. In my opinion, it holds down all the trades together. Carpenters can do everything when they put their minds to it. They have the most difficult trade and when asked to do roofing or plumbing, they may not be as good as the qualified tradesman, it will still look good enough. They know how to do everything! It was always my ambition to be more than who I was, so that’s why when I saw that opportunity [an apprenticeship], I just jumped at it. I didn’t look back. I put myself out there 110 percent and did everything I could to make sure it worked out, and I’m still in that same mindset. If I go to a worksite and they have a plan, I can read that and know what I’m doing, but I can also help out clients from start to finish. I walk through it with them, I give them ideas, and I take in their ideas of what they want to do.”
