One of the main reasons for its enduring popularity – other than the welcoming proprietors, Tina and Andrew – is the food: it’s made fresh and the servings are more than generous. Pull up a seat inside or out and enjoy the sandwiches, salads, and breakfast options as well as the terrific coffee.
A new but welcome addition to the Forest Lodge neighbourhood is Kneed Bread Sandwich Emporium, who serve up a selection of gourmet sandwiches on sourdough, ciabatta, white bread, and potato buns.
But if your appetite requires something more substantial or your thirst requires something stronger than a double-shot coffee, the Forest Lodge Hotel is located just off Ross Street on Arundel Street. Pull up a barstool or grab a table and enjoy a craft beer, wine or spirit and perhaps order lunch or dinner from a menu that runs the gamut from pub staples – pizza, burgers, sweet potato fries – to more gourmet fare.
