Reza Hassani came to Australia from Afghanistan some 20 years ago, seeking freedom and an opportunity to succeed through hard work. “I had a dream to one day have a big shop; my own scrapyard, my own business,” he recalls.
That dream has since become a reality with World Copper Recycling in Revesby. “We work with plumbers, air conditioning companies, sparkies — all the tradies — and anything to do with metal. They call us and we pay them to take their recyclable metals,” Reza says. “It’s good for the environment, the economy, and for their business. When you recycle something, it’s a circle; we’re helping each other.”
Despite the name, it’s not just copper and cable that World Copper Recycling handle; aluminium, tin, brass, lead, steel and stainless steel, radiators, air conditioning units and car batteries are all of interest.
Adopting sustainable practices, they also offer competitive prices. “Before people go to chuck out their wires and cables, they should call us — we’ll pay to take it!” Reza says. “Whenever people want to get rid of something that comes with recyclable metals, they should give us a call.”
Metals are important resuse recycle prevent waste, it improves our environment.
