John Pavasovic, Bonnyrigg Garden Centre

What began as a produce store in 1965 has grown to become one of Sydney’s largest garden centres. And the Bonnyrigg Garden Centre remains a family-run business, with John Pavasovic continuing to nurture and grow what first took root with his parents.

John took the reins in December of 1982. “What we’ve morphed into today is a vast difference to what we started with.”

One of Sydney’s largest providers of plants, statues, pots, ponds, landscaping items, garden essentials, and water features, Bonnyrigg Garden Centre also boasts 44 soil bins (the largest capacity in Sydney), and is home to the Blossoms Flowers & Gifts shop and Cafe Harvest, the first approved cafe in a garden centre in Sydney.

“People want to come here to switch off. We need to change the definition of a garden centre so we can expand our chemistry here. Bunnings are not us; gardening centres are unique.”
