Sarah O’Donnell, LJ Hooker Brighton Le Sands

An Engadine girl born and bred, Sarah O’Donnell has made herself at home — at least professionally — in Brighton Le Sands where, for the past four years, she has worked at LJ Hooker Brighton Le Sands. After three years as assistant to Susan Hetherington, Director of Property Management, Sarah was promoted in November 2024 to property investment manager and now manages her own portfolio.

“I manage close to 180 properties with the assistance of the two property officers in the office; I deal with many different owners and tenants daily. I also deal with strata and trades daily and come across other professionals such as solicitors, bank valuers, and insurers,” Sarah explains. “At the end of the day, we’re dealing with someone’s most likely biggest asset and investment, so we need to ensure we’re doing everything that we possibly can to manage it correctly and in the best interest of our clients.”

While real estate wasn’t necessarily the career Sarah dreamed of while at school, she has found her calling. “I was always uncertain of what I wanted to do career wise, but I did know I wanted to do something that involves helping people. I love the variety this job offers — my day is never boring. I love my job and love the responsibility. Real estate is about people and not about property. Helping people is what I enjoy.”

Away from the office, Sarah enjoys the usual activities: socialising with family and friends; going to the beach and for walks; and going out for dinner. “In terms of food that I love, I’m a big fan of Mexican and Japanese food,” Sarah says, who notes Brighton Le Sands also boasts prime foodie real estate. “We’re lucky with where our office is located as we’re surrounded by a variety of restaurants and cafes that offer different cuisines. I sometimes go for lunch to La Piazza if it’s someone’s birthday, for example. I’m also a big fan of acai, so I love that we’re so close to a few places that have it.”
